The increased number of fan motors in HVAC, heat pump, and battery air cooling systems of EVs requires greater integration and quieter operation. Allegro offers highly integrated half-bridge and BLDC motor controllers in smaller footprints, facilitating simplified 48V/12V designs. In the relative quietness of EVs, sounds from HVAC systems, power steering, and switching mechanisms become distinctly audible. To mitigate this, Allegro has developed QuietMotion products equipped with optimized algorithms based on sinusoidal and field-oriented control (FOC), designed to diminish acoustic noise during start-up and speed and torque regulation. This fully integrated solution simplifies the design-in process, allowing customers to concentrate on thermal management rather than grappling with complex motor control techniques for noise reduction.
