The Allegro A6850 is an interface IC which provides the sensor output state and open/short diagnostic information between two-wire current output sensor ICs and a microcontroller. This IC uses protected high-side low resistance switches to supply voltage to two individually controlled sensor channels, each with current limiting circuitry.
Eliminating the need for an external series sense resistor, typical in two-wire, current interface applications, reduces the voltage drop across the sensing circuit. Combined with a low operating and sleep mode current, this approach provides additional protection and headroom for supply line transients commonly experienced in automotive and industrial applications.
The A6850 is provided in an 8-pin Pb (lead) free SOIC package, with 100% matte tin lead frame plating, this IC offers design-in ease for two-wire applications whether it's a complex solid-state sensor or simple mechanical switch.
