Allegro MicroSystems, LLC Introduces New Off-Line PWM Controllers with Integrated Power MOSFET
Worcester, MA – Allegro MicroSystems, LLC introduces a new family of off-line PWM controllers that incorporate both a sense MOSFET and a current mode PWM controller IC. This new series is offered by Allegro and manufactured and developed by Sanken Electric Co., Ltd. in Japan. The STR4A100 series is targeted at the appliance, office automation, consumer and industrial markets with key end applications to include audio visual, set top boxes, white goods and battery chargers.
This new series uses a secondary side regulation topology suitable for low power SMPS regulators in white goods and other applications. An auxiliary power supply, which is separated from the inverter or main power supply, may require high-efficiency and low stand-by power. The STR4A100 series makes it possible to lower the stand-by power to less than 10 mW. The low standby power is accomplished by the automatic switching between the PWM operation in normal operation and the burst-oscillation under light load conditions. The end result yields a high cost-performance power supply system with few external components.
The STR4A series is available in both DIP-8 and SOIC-8 packages.
